The QB Shuffle!

This offseason may be one for the ages in terms of the amount of quality quarterbacks that may be available.  There may be a Super Bowl MVP, a league MVP, someone who has just as many pro bowls as kids and a blind QB who somehow threw more than 30 Touchdowns. What makes this even more intriguing is the number of teams who may be in the market for a new signal caller.  Not only are the teams that these QBs may be leaving need a new person at the position, there are a number of teams who could use an upgrade at the position.

The number one team to look at this off season is the Chicago Bears.  It will be fascinating to see if they actually are going to try and upgrade at the position.  They have a high-quality defense with offensive pieces that would I dare say are not shity.  I look at what the Cardinals did last draft, where they identified that Josh Rosen was not their franchise QB and had the balls to use the FIRST overall pick on the exact same position a year later.  Now if it were any other position there wouldn’t have been the hoopla that was surrounded by the decision.  Some thought they should build around Rosen, give him a line and other pieces to succeed, which may not have been a bad thing.  Well look at them now, one Kyler Murray later and they are in a much better place. But that’s a conversation for dare I say a PODCAST.

Cam Newton

Mr. Newton is an interesting case for the upcoming season.  He has not finished either of the last two seasons and with his injury history may be more of a liability for the Panthers right now.  If healthy and that is a big ass IF, he is a top 15 quarterback.  Someone who can lead your team to the playoffs and win games if not told to do too much.  Cam is now at the age where his running ability should honestly be a last resort. The best situation for him should be one where he has a strong running game and he has the ability to read the defense on play actions passes.  If the Viking weren’t already paying Kirk that would be a perfect place.  Honestly the best place for him may be to just stay in Carolina.  Allow the team to build around their franchise running back and run it back with Mr. Newton.

Philip Rivers

Well we already know he isn’t coming back to LA with the Chargers and it is hard to pinpoint a perfect place for him to settle.  I am not sure if he wants to take a seat back and not throw on almost every down.  Last year he threw the second most pass attempts in his career with 591. He needs to go to a team where all they ask him to do is manage the game. Not like a rookie would do, but just make sure they are in a manageable down and distance.  When a pass needs to be completed on 2nd and 9 its completed for that 5-yard gain for a more manageable 3rd down.  The Bears once again should be giving him a great deal of consideration.  If Mr. Rivers is able to do what I have described for the Bears they could win a few more games, especially those that matter.

Tom Brady

Man, just leave New England. This run was awesome, and you are the best quarterback to ever play this game but leave. Go to the NFC, play for Tampa and never play the Bills again!  As much as I would love for him to leave, I honestly cannot see Mr. Brady playing for another team.  It’s more likely that he is a Patriot for one more year than anything.  Also, the backup options for the Patriots are just Jarrett Stidham, which is bad.

Jameis Winston

Mr. 30-for-30 may need a change of scenery. He also needs to get his fucking vision fixed, which has been done with him getting Lasik.  Tampa Bay has the compelling reason to keep him as he may get better. Yes, I know we have been saying this for 5 years but sometimes all you need to do is get Lasik and you won’t throw 30 interceptions.  I can also see them going the draft route and getting someone new to take the keys from Mr. Winston and start over.  A team that would work well for Jameis would be the Raiders. The Raiders need a spark at the QB position and Jameis could be the answer.  Now will they be good, who knows but will they be interesting…yes! Gruden and Winston are almost must-see TV.  With the Raiders making that move to Vegas, who doesn’t want to see an attraction.

Quick Hitters-

Detroit cut Matt Stafford and draft Tua

Chargers start Tyrod

Haskins is pretty bad, but so is this draft class so the Washington Football Franchise should hope for Alex Smith and whatever is left of his leg.

Stafford after being cut by Detroit goes to Tampa Bay.

Derek Carr backs up Watson and wears his brother’s jersey number.
