Buffalo Bills Off-Season 2020!

During the first 12 hours the Buffalo Bills added three new players highlighted by WR Stefon Diggs.  The Bills have acquired someone who they hope can become their go to target for the upcoming season.  The other two signings were AJ Klein from the Saints and previous to that Carolina and Mario Addison another player form…Carolina.  Each of these players will play a critical role in the Bills pursuit of the Super Bowl in 2021.

AJ Klein (LB): AJ will most likely take the place Lorenzo Alexander as the team’s third LB but will do so in a different way than how Lorenzo has played in previous years.  AJ who isn’t the best at coverage or blitzing could possibly be the teams MLB on early downs.  That would allow Tre Edmunds to come off the edge if needed, still be able to be in pass coverage and take away space from sideline to sideline.  On obvious passing downs or third down, Edmunds could move back to the MLB and patrol around the middle of the field. Potentially having Edmunds and Milano cover from sideline to sideline all while having Klein make tackles in the middle of the field could take this Bills defense to the next level.

Mario Addison (DE): Mario coming off another strong season where he racked up 9.5 sacks, comes to the Bills after Shaq Lawson took his talents to South Beach.  A similar size to Lawson, Mario will be able to handle the line of scrimmage when it comes to the run game so there should be no dip in play in that aspect. The area where this should be an instant upgrade should be in the sacks department.  Addison who has had at least 9.0 sacks in each of the last three years will help a team who has struggled to sack the QB if it isn’t Deshaun Watson.  I assume he takes over as the starting DE opposite of Jerry Hughes.  The Bills should still be in the market for DL help as that is one of the areas the team needs most.

Stefon Diggs (WR): After much fanfare, Mr. Diggs is a Buffalo Bill! A name that Bills fans have heard for close to a year now will finally be suiting up for the team.  After a trade with the Vikings where we gave up a 1st…whew…a whole 1st to acquire this man, he better be all that the fans have wanted.  The route running savant, is coming off a year where he managed 6 TDs and over 1100 yards.  It will be interesting to see where he lines up most in this offense. In Minnesota he lined up on the outside just as much as he did the inside.  That should give the Bills offensive staff flexibility to move him around and be able to come up with interesting play formations.  Even though we did give up a 1st round pick I hope the Bills are not done trying to make upgrades to the position.  There will still be a lot of WR prospects in the 2nd and 3rd rounds of the draft and would love to see the team make another move to continue to make this receiving unit better.  Then again that will all mean nothing if the Bills continue to complete only 59% of their passes.
