Why Does Nobody Want D-Lo!
D’Angelo Russell got traded again! This time it’s not because he broke Nick Young’s happy home or because Kevin Durant was being a nice guy to the franchise that helped him get his first ring and also snatched away his Achilles like a bad kindergartener at snack time. No this time he was traded because the Warriors would rather have Andrew Wiggins, a 2021 protected first-round pick in a weak draft and a 2021 second-round pick than him. Yucko Smucko!!!
That makes me think, what is wrong with D’Angelo “Ice In My Veins” Russell and why does nobody want him enough to keep him around. Is he that one girl that you’re not too crazy about but she’s cool and fun so you keep dating her? You know what I’m talking about, the one that’s not really your dream girl but she’s cool enough to kick it with until you actually find your dream girl and get married and live happily ever after?......No just me? I’m the toxic one here? Okay Fine!
I digress, D-Lo is now on his fourth team in five years. He’s 25, gets buckets and made the All Star team just last year, you’d think a player just entering his prime would command a bit more of respect. For God’s sake he was a number two overall pick! If I were D-Lo, I’d be a bit upset, like bro don’t send me to Lake Minnetonka. I understand there were reasons he was traded before but this one stinks. LA didn’t want him because of the Swaggy P situation which in hindsight makes no sense and goes to show that Magic was just winging it. Brooklyn traded him away because KD wanted Kyrie instead of him which in hindsight that doesn’t look like a good move either.
Now what are the Warriors doing? I heard of the reports that D-Lo wouldn’t fit with Steph and Klay but did they even try? I did see that with the Wiggins deal they got under the luxury tax, but at what cost Joe Lacob at what cost! My thing is, if they thought D-Lo was not a good fit on the team, what do they think that Andrew Wiggins is going to do? If Steve Kerr is able to turn Andrew Wiggins into half of what Harrison Barnes was in 2014-2015 season then he should be inducted in the hall of fame right on the spot.
The Warriors have always fancied themselves to be ahead of the curve and maybe they see something I don’t because they just traded a walking bucket for somebody that doesn’t like playing basketball. D-Lo hopefully you’ll find your happily ever after in Minnesota (highly doubt it) but fingers crossed!!!
