Until we meet again!
The Lakers played in a basketball game that meant absolutely nothing, in terms of basketball. This was the first realization to many, including you reading, that Kobe Bryant is never coming back. Carmelo Anthony could not muster the thought of playing in Staples without Kobe and elected to not travel with the Trail Blazers. Just as many, I assume, did not watch the game because of what their emotions would have done to take over their senses. This served as what Lebron called it, a time to “celebrate the kid that came here at 18 years of age, retired at 38 and became probably the best dad”.
Like Prince said in his last written piece, he was an uncle to people who he never met or even came into contact with. Kobe was a transcendent player whose wings stretched worldwide. The city of Los Angeles, the state of California and basketball players throughout the world miss Kobe and hopefully, you are able to take something from him and use it into your everyday life.
As we get further and further away from that unfortunate Sunday afternoon, let’s remember the great moments that Kobe gave us. Let’s remember the great stories that players tell and soak it all in. In any time of tragedy there is grief, doubt and an unrelenting fear that you cannot move forward. This basketball game hurt, and future Laker games will hurt but eventually the world will go one and the memories that I hope you have of Mr. Bryant will remind you of the great moments that you shared with him.
