Released on your day off!

NFL

The Washington Football team released Dwayne Haskins today and the question I have is, why was he on the team past the NFL draft.  I and Technically Sports’ NFL Draft expert London Taylor aka Jefe, both saw what Washington had in Haskins and said they were better off drafting a QB in the 2020 draft.  This draft came down to one thing for the WFT, a potentially hall of fame DE, or a QB. The answer for me will always be draft your franchise QB.

Watching Haskins during his Ohio State days you could see it early that he was a product of the system.  What I mean by that is he had tons of weapons around him and when the pressure got to him, he had the pocket awareness of a nursing home patient. I don’t think he can be a quality stater in the NFL and will probably need to work for someone to trust him as their backup.

Be on the lookout for where players like Justin Fields and Zac Wilson go. Neither are day one starters in the NFL, and both need some time to continue to learn the position.  If money wasn’t a factor, I would tell both to stay in school for another year as I would have suggested to Haskins years ago. Sometimes it doesn’t matter how talented you are, if you end up in the wrong place it can be detrimental, in the case of Haskins, it was just bad QB play.
